今日 Today

I was hanging clothes out on veranda today. Though unusual, a butterfly came to play! I thought. I took a picture and found her buttocks was bent...Was she...?

Found it! I think, it must be her egg!?
It's great... I'll look forward to see her baby come out...

December 6, second harvest
Though I haven't taken care of them so well, Sanchu, Aisan lettuce (?) grew up this well
, and they were delicious!

Garland chrysanthemums were sparse... Of course they are, I didn't do enough to raise them. But they still grew this much doing their mighty best.

Spinach had flowers

News on Green Peppers
People at the nursery shop across the street from Osuya, the dried bonito flake shop, taught me.
No matter how small plants are, they try to blossom and make fruits. That is the destiny and the direction of a life which tries to leave descendants. So, in order to get big green peppers, I have to pick flowers before it grows fruits, and let all the nutrients and energy of the plant focus on growing and becoming a bigger plant. If the plant gets bigger, it can grow bigger green peppers.
Since I began farming (sort of), the realization of the thought that farming seems, it very much is like philosophy bonks my head.
A proverb, “after rain, soil hardens” is true and real. The soil becomes really hard when it dry after the rain.
But right after the rain, the soil is soft and it is a wonderful moment of opportunity to plough and pick weeds.
If philosophy is a study to know the laws of life in order to live, then of course farming is philosophy, so as everything else.
I read an interview article of Mr. Gakiya, the manager/coach of the Kounan high school, the winner of the baseball tournaments of high school students of this summer. One of his teaching was, “魂知和”, reads “konchiwa”, sounds similar to “konnichiwa” (good afternoon). Each character stands for meaning. “魂” is soul, “知” is knowledge, and “和” is harmony. If I remember correctly, the explanation was like this. When you do anything, even the smallest and unimportant things in everyday life, put your soul in what you do. Acquire knowledge about various matters. Do accomplish things while keeping in harmony with others. Saying hello is important. The teaching is sound on pretty much in every fields of anything we do, not just on playing and winning the baseball games. It fits to the laws of this world which we cannot live in without this body, and it is a just advice for a life to grow bigger in harmony with the laws.

My first harvested green peppers.
Tiny...But the plants tried so hard to grew the peppers.
Bitter they were...
I shall try again. Thinking of planting spinach and Japanese radish.

Green peppers I grew for the first time in my life. Although the plants haven't grew any taller than the time I bought them in a store
They are living with all their might they made it to grow small peppers! I hope to eat them... grow bigger and bigger....

Raising a child or children

Blown up its feathers by gusty winds and its anus exposed, the mother stands still and firm with wings spread, trying to hide children from suspicious creature. And, I guess he may be the father who is by her looking into her bottom or the kids...

Being curious? Kids come out under the wings to see what's up, and maybe it's their aunty who lives with them looking back at.
